About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to enhance our network solutions division and manufacturing operations. This position is integral to our commitment to delivering advanced, reliable products in a dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Controls Engineer will be tasked with the design and upkeep of intricate electrical systems and programming essential for the operation of manufacturing machinery. This role involves documenting, developing, implementing, and sustaining equipment and systems for product production, validation, and inspection. The position operates with minimal oversight and may involve mentoring junior team members.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers or management to design electrical systems for manufacturing equipment.
  • Create programs for PLCs, HMIs, actuators, servos, motion controllers, and vision systems.
  • Organize equipment development through project schedules and spreadsheets for component management.
  • Develop functional flowcharts to streamline machine programming and troubleshooting.
  • Document machine programs and electrical systems in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Specify and procure electrical components necessary for equipment operation.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machinery to support production and engineering teams.
  • Assemble, wire, program, install, and debug both purchased and internally developed equipment.
  • Create operating manuals for both internally developed and purchased machinery.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced personnel to enhance their skills.
  • Provide leadership and training for technical staff.
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and processes.
  • Proficient in developing machine programs and documentation using various programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of discrete logic and electronics, particularly open-collector outputs.
  • Experience in implementing and troubleshooting industrial communication networks.
  • Ability to create detailed electrical specifications, including schematics and wiring guidelines.
  • Skilled in documenting programs and schematics using CAD or Visio.
  • Capable of organizing programming tasks and ensuring completion by maintenance teams.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of production machinery and industrial sensors.
  • Experience in debugging customized equipment circuit boards.
  • Understanding of electrical codes and practices.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and relevant standards.
  • Proficient with mechanical and electrical tools.
  • Adept at problem-solving and managing multiple priorities.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in machine and equipment development and programming.
