Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop sophisticated avionics designs encompassing cabin systems, in-flight entertainment, communication systems, LED cabin lighting, and power systems to fulfill customer specifications, quality standards, FAA regulations, budget constraints, and project timelines.
  • Compile a comprehensive master drawing list of avionics documentation for project-specific STC.
  • Establish avionics and electrical system architecture requirements for VIP/VVIP aircraft.
  • Create wire diagrams and initial wire routing using engineering drafting tools.
  • Review and approve completed drawing packages from colleagues.
  • Formulate verification and testing procedures to align with current FAA design standards.
  • Assist in system installations by collaborating with modification facilities, identifying root causes, capturing updates, resolving design challenges, and modifying drawings to adhere to schedules.
  • Engage with customers, FAA representatives, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with all design requirements.
  • Contribute to the project bidding process by capturing engineering and design requirements for estimates and quotes.
  • Participate in scheduling avionics systems projects to ensure alignment with major milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare design checklists, templates, and other necessary documentation.
  • May act as a functional 'Focal' for specific projects.
  • Maintain close collaboration with project engineers to ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers in technical design and processes.
  • Ensure consistent attendance and punctuality, fulfilling work shift requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace or electrical engineering preferred; minimum of eight years of relevant aerospace experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven ability to meet high expectations regarding schedule, budget, and technical solutions.
  • Capability to adapt and lead tailored processes for prototype engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of avionics, including locating, provisioning, and installations for LRUs, and 3D wire routing.
  • Experience with aircraft interiors and VIP retrofits is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Boeing aircraft for VIP and commercial models.
  • Proficient in CAD and data management systems.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
