Job Description

K2 Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II-III to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Job Summary

This role involves performing mechanical design for HVAC systems and energy modeling in both new construction and renovations. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of current codes such as IBC, IMC, ASHRAE, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Plan, design, construct, and/or maintain mechanical systems and components.
  • Detailing and Documentation: Prepare mechanical detailing for construction drawings.
  • Engineering Expertise: Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making substantial engineering adaptations and modifications as necessary.
  • Site Visits and Reporting: Conduct site visits to document conditions and assist in the preparation of written reports.
  • Project Management: Assist in the planning, designing, and monitoring of projects for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities.
  • Technical Consultation: Serve as a technical consultant concerning facilities planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Specifications and Cost Estimation: Prepare specifications or construction cost estimates and assist in evaluating contract bids.
  • Code Compliance: Manage projects and ensure adherence to applicable design and building codes.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering software.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Written Communication: Strong written communication skills.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional License: Current Professional Engineering license and ability to be licensed by other states.
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of design experience, with military facilities design experience being a plus.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering software.
  • Computer Skills: Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Certification: LEED AP certification or ability to become certified within six months.
