Position SummaryThe selected candidate will be responsible for executing mechanical designs for HVAC systems and conducting energy modeling for both new builds and renovations. A solid understanding of contemporary codes such as IBC, IMC, and ASHRAE is essential. Experience with Central Energy Plant systems is highly regarded, and familiarity with the specific needs of Department of Defense facilities is a plus. The role also involves offering support to team members as required.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain mechanical systems and components.
- Create detailed mechanical drawings for construction projects.
- Assess, select, and implement standard mechanical engineering methods, making necessary engineering modifications.
- Conduct site inspections to document existing conditions and assist in report preparation.
- Participate in the planning, design, and oversight of projects related to new construction, renovations, and facility improvements.
- Act as a technical advisor on matters related to facilities planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
- Draft specifications or cost estimates for construction and assist in evaluating contractor proposals.
- Oversee projects to ensure compliance with relevant design and building regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD and other mechanical engineering software.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster relationships with clients.
- Possess excellent written communication abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Current Professional Engineering license with the capability to obtain licensure in additional states.
- A minimum of five years of design experience, particularly in military facility design, is advantageous.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and mechanical engineering software.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- LEED AP certification or the ability to achieve certification within six months.
