Position Overview

At United Engineers & Constructors, Inc., we are a collective of skilled professionals dedicated to designing and constructing the infrastructure of the future. We are currently in search of a Fulltime Senior Mechanical Engineer to become a vital part of our engineering team. This role involves collaborating with fellow engineers and designers to create modification packages for mechanical systems within the nuclear power sector.

***** THIS POSITION OFFERS A HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT, WITH IN-OFFICE DAYS FROM TUESDAY TO THURSDAY *****

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop modification packages for mechanical systems utilized in nuclear power facilities.
  • Conduct engineering analyses including hydraulic assessments, equipment sizing, HVAC calculations, heat load evaluations, and pressure loss assessments.
  • Create mechanical design specifications and procurement documentation.
  • Generate engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plans, and Isometric drawings.
  • Estimate materials and labor requirements, along with engineering and design timelines.
  • Utilize sound engineering judgment to evaluate complex issues, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant codes and design standards.
  • Collaborate with plant stakeholders to clarify project requirements and support construction and startup activities as necessary.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

· A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in the nuclear sector.

· Capability to secure unescorted access to nuclear facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Duke Energy Nuclear.

· Master’s degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering is preferred.

· Professional Engineering (PE) license in the United States.

· Proficiency in fluid flow software (e.g., AFT FATHOM, PROTO-FLO, KYPIPE, or similar).

· Familiarity with Fire Protection and Detection Systems.
