Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanic III to join our team at Mecklenburg EMS. As a Mechanic III, you will be responsible for performing detailed and accurate repairs and maintenance on diesel/light-medium duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Inspections and Repairs: Examine and inspect all Agency vehicles for mechanical problems, and perform repairs in a professional, proficient, and timely manner.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Utilize Agency diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical concerns and repair issues.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance services per Agency policy and protocol, including testing specific parts or systems for proper functioning.
  • Communication and Reporting: Report all concerns and issues while inspecting Agency vehicles to the chain of command upon immediate recognition, and accurately document work orders and vehicle information.
  • Electrical and Computer Systems: Understand electrical diagrams and navigate vehicle computer systems to diagnose and repair issues.
  • Driving and Safety: Drive Agency vehicles in a responsible and safe manner, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Participate in department and agency-wide activities, including meetings, trainings, and workgroups as directed.
  • Problem-Solving and Time Management: Display independent problem-solving and time management skills to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
Requirements
  • Education: S. or G.E.D.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in diesel/light-medium duty vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Certifications: ASE and EVT Certifications required within 1 year of hire.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a noisy area with many odors present, regularly lift, pull, or push up to 100 pounds, and bend, stretch, kneel, squat, or walk repetitively to perform repairs and inspections.
