Manufacturing Systems Engineer:
Responsibilities based on an 8-hour workday:

10% Collaborate on Process & Method enhancements utilizing standard techniques, including tooling, guidelines, and machinery, to improve operational efficiency on the production floor.

10% Provide mechanical and technical assistance to senior engineers during troubleshooting to resolve issues impacting production and quality. Applying Mechanical Engineering principles will support senior engineers in the research, design, evaluation, installation, and operation of safety slides and rafts for large aircraft. 2% Aid in Product Implementation. Support the Maintenance and Distribution of labor standards. 2% Assist the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor in establishing labor standards for current products based on new bill of material requests. 4% Collaborate with Supervisors on Facility and Workstation Layouts. 10% Contribute to the research and development of capital projects initiated within the Manufacturing Department. 2% Support the preparation and upkeep of work instructions as necessary. 10% Assist in the preparation of product estimates for manufacturing operations, including estimates for specialized tools, fixtures, and equipment required for new product manufacturing. Engage in Engineering Design Duties under the supervision of senior engineers, which includes interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports related to the design of aircraft evacuation slides and rafts.

Assist drafters in developing the structural design of new products using drafting tools or computer-aided design (CAD) software.

10% Collaborate with supervisors to troubleshoot all issues affecting the production area, including assisting in the corrective action process for identified problem areas on a priority basis. 10% Work as part of the Manufacturing Engineering team on research and development of new equipment and processes to enhance the manufacturing workflow. 10% As part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, assist in the production implementation testing of new products transitioning from engineering to production. Responsible for developing all tooling, guidelines, and processes necessary for successful product assembly.

This includes conducting tests and analyzing the feasibility of specific designs, operational effectiveness, and overall performance of safety slides and their individual components.

10% Participate with senior engineers in testing various design models for alternative designs and processing methods to assist in the feasibility assessment of new designs, including the effects of operating conditions, potential new applications for products, and modifications to adapt designs for different aircraft. This includes both real and virtual testing of prototypes. 10% Under the close supervision of senior engineers, participate with other engineers in investigating system malfunctions and provide technical reports on failure analysis as required, including but not limited to the manually deployed shelter canopy when the safety slide/raft has been deployed. Assist senior engineers in developing design modifications to rectify system malfunctions, including deployment and delamination issues, and document findings.
