Unit Details:

Our Transitional Care Unit features:

  • 28 patient beds
  • Care for diverse conditions including neurological, orthopedic, oncology, amputee, spinal cord injury, and transplant cases
  • Focus on adult patients
  • Post-acute rehabilitation services including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology
  • A collaborative team of approximately 50 therapy and technical staff


This role involves working 48 hours biweekly on the night shift, consisting of 8-hour shifts and alternating weekends. The position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Patient Care Technician, you will:

  • Provide essential patient care through routine tasks, collaborating with caregivers in decision-making.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Support patients with feeding and skin care needs, including dressing changes and applying topical treatments.
  • Facilitate oral hygiene and specimen collection/testing.
  • Assist in positioning and ambulating patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment by changing linens and promptly responding to call lights.
  • Monitor patient conditions and accurately record vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rates.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Orient patients and families to the healthcare environment, ensuring belongings are documented and accounted for.
  • Transport patients and necessary equipment, ensuring timely arrivals for appointments.
  • Utilize transfer belts for safe patient handling and maintain cleanliness of rooms and equipment.
  • Order and stock supplies as needed, and document tasks performed accurately.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current certification on the MN CNA Registry
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification for healthcare providers

  • Experience in a hospital environment
