Overview:
M Health Fairview is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality care to patients. The position involves working 64 hours over a two-week period on the Night shift, with 8-hour shifts scheduled every other weekend. Compensation:
The starting pay for this position is $21.47 per hour, with opportunities for higher compensation based on relevant experience.
Unit Information:
If you are curious about working in a medical/surgical setting, our Med/Surg-Medical Unit may be the perfect match for you. This 46-bed unit features 18 telemetry beds and is recognized for its strong teamwork, educational opportunities, and a supportive atmosphere.
The patient demographic includes Geriatric, Respiratory, GI, and Detox patients. Our unit is known for its high employee engagement scores and a focus on patient and family-centered care, making it an enjoyable place to work.
Key Responsibilities:
The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting professional nurses and caregivers in delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with personal grooming, bathing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Providing skin care, including clean and sterile dressing changes.
  • Conducting oral hygiene and specimen collection/testing.
  • Assisting with patient positioning and ambulation.
  • Changing linens and promptly responding to call lights.
  • Monitoring patient conditions and accurately recording vital signs.
  • Transporting patients and equipment as needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and supplies.

In addition, the Patient Care Technician will ensure that patients are oriented to their environment and that their belongings are accounted for during admissions, transfers, and discharges.


Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification.
  • Completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or an equivalent program.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a healthcare setting, or current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with at least one semester of clinical rotation.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire is preferred.
