Overview:
Fairview Health Services is in search of a dedicated Patient Care Technician. This role is a full-time position (1.0 FTE, 80 hours biweekly) with 8-hour shifts primarily during the night, including weekends as needed.

Our facilities include multiple hospitals and numerous adult specialty clinics, providing advanced medical care and striving to enhance community health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the turnover of operating rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for subsequent patients.
- Prepare the operating room for incoming patients.
- Acquire necessary equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
- Transport specimens and blood products efficiently.
- Move contaminated case carts to the designated decontamination area.
Patient Care Duties:
- Assist in the transfer and positioning of patients.
- Aid in the preparation of patients for surgical procedures.
- Provide transportation for patients.
- Maintain inventory control by ordering and managing supplies as directed.
- Restock supplies in the department as needed.
- Conduct rounds to ensure inventory levels are adequate.
- Communicate supply shortages to the appropriate personnel.
- Adapt care approaches to meet the developmental and cultural needs of the patient population served.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves standing, walking, lifting up to 32 lbs overhead, 45 lbs at waist level, and 40 lbs below the knee, as well as carrying, balancing, pushing, hearing, repetitive actions, speaking, and visual acuity.
Mental Requirements:
The position entails frequent interaction with individuals, an irregular work schedule, numerous interruptions, decision-making responsibilities, concentration, independent work, multitasking, organizational skills, collaboration, and adherence to deadlines.
Qualifications:
Minimum
Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification is required. Participants in the OnTrack program must obtain certification upon completion.
Additionally, one of the following:
- Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in long-term care, home care, or acute care settings (including roles such as Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician).
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, with completion of at least one semester of clinical rotation.
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (this requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech role).
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or in a related field.
