Unit Details:
Our unit features 24 beds, catering to a diverse range of medical needs, including:
- Management of sepsis
- Care for overdoses and withdrawal symptoms
- Post-operative care for spine surgeries
- Telemetry monitoring
- Administration of continuous IV infusions for various conditions
- Treatment of pneumonia
- Support for patients with altered mental status
This role involves working 36 hours over a two-week pay period during night shifts, with 12-hour shifts scheduled every third weekend. Please note that this position does not offer benefits.
Hiring Process:

Key Responsibilities:
As a Patient Care Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring high standards of customer service, teamwork, and communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with patient care tasks such as personal hygiene, vital signs monitoring, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
- Organizing and maintaining patient rooms
- Managing the ordering and stocking of medical supplies
- Responding to telephone inquiries as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification is required. Candidates must be able to obtain this certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
- One of the following qualifications is also required:
- Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting (e.g., Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician).
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, with completion of at least one semester of clinical rotation.
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not necessary if transferring to another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Technician position.
