Role Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for spearheading and executing innovative technical initiatives and solutions in Mass Production, Business Planning, and New Model Development. This role aims to efficiently meet or surpass targets related to Safety, Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective communication across all organizational levels to ensure a unified understanding and direction.
  • Analyze daily reports to identify gaps in safety, quality, and delivery, and develop potential countermeasures or root cause analyses to drive continuous improvement.
  • Employ data analysis and PDCA methodologies to lead and support the development of solutions in collaboration with relevant departments to address complex challenges.
  • Oversee and optimize equipment and processes to ensure peak manufacturing performance while minimizing operational costs.
  • Enhance the capabilities of yourself and your colleagues through training, mentoring, and sharing expertise in your technical domain.
  • Establish priorities and make informed decisions based on data analytics to effectively achieve business objectives.
  • Manage project implementation, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Test, assess, and implement new technologies to enhance overall equipment and process efficiency.
  • Develop and oversee investment and expense budgets to meet overall cost objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, etc.) with relevant experience; 6 years of engineering experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Manufacturing co-op experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in industry-standard software applications.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude, open-mindedness, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate strong self-motivation and a desire to thrive in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to self-manage and provide direction for others to succeed.
  • Showcase leadership capabilities.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and analyze complex problems to propose and implement suitable countermeasures based on timing, quality, and cost.
  • Strong technical analysis and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience in project management.

Work Environment

  • Work in a production environment requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Exposure to hydraulic oils, cutting lubricants, and various materials in a manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and investigation within equipment to address issues and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Utilization of hand/power tools, automation equipment, and quality measurement instruments.
  • 50% office work and 50% activity on the manufacturing line.
  • Potential for 10-15 hours of overtime weekly.
  • Availability for weekend or off-shift support as needed.
  • Minimal travel (5%) may be required.
