Job Objective

To lead, design, and execute innovative technical initiatives and solutions in the realms of Business Strategy, New Product Development, and Mass Production, ensuring that we meet or surpass targets related to Safety, Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Employee Morale.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Formulate, implement, and sustain methods, operational sequences, and processes in the manufacturing or assembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final products.
  • Examine and interpret daily reports to identify potential SQD countermeasures and root cause analysis opportunities, striving for ongoing enhancement.
  • Leverage data analysis and PDCA methodologies to lead, support, develop, and justify solutions in collaboration with relevant groups/departments to address complex challenges.
  • Oversee and optimize equipment and processes to ensure peak manufacturing performance while minimizing operational costs.
  • Enhance the capabilities of oneself, colleagues, and the team through training, mentoring, and sharing expertise in technical areas.
  • Establish priorities and make informed decisions based on data analytics to effectively achieve business objectives.
  • Manage project execution, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure successful outcomes and target fulfillment. Assess manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement new and innovative technologies to enhance overall equipment and process efficiency.
  • Develop and oversee investment and expense budgets to meet overall cost objectives.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-8 years of relevant experience based on educational background.
  • Proficient in industry-standard software applications.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude, open-mindedness, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Demonstrates strong self-motivation and a desire to thrive in a manufacturing setting.
  • Self-directed and capable of providing guidance to others for their success.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities.
  • Possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and resolve complex issues through analytical thinking to propose and implement suitable countermeasures based on timing, quality, and cost.
  • Strong technical analysis and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Proficient in project management.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Achievement of project objectives.
  • Timely execution of business strategy themes.
  • Comparison of planned versus actual budget within production areas.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Engage with production engineering, associates, line support staff, managers, and upstream/downstream departments to communicate project and countermeasure needs and activities. Collaborate with department and plant management to provide project status updates and evaluations.
  • Interact with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to research and communicate project specifications, installation requirements, and general activities necessary to enhance operations.

Decision-Making Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily line performance and address areas of concern regarding countermeasures.
  • Develop and design strategies to achieve unit and company initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor other levels, fostering a culture of challenge and growth.
  • Oversee business planning and justify resource changes.
  • Determine budgetary and scheduling needs to enhance operations.

Working Environment

  • Work in a production environment requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lockout procedures in manufacturing operations.
  • Exposure to oils and cutting lubricants.
  • Hands-on investigation and troubleshooting within equipment to address issues and identify improvement activities.
  • Utilization of hand/power tools, quality gauging, and instrumentation.
  • 50% office environment and 50% manufacturing lineside activities.
  • Potential for 10-15 hours of overtime per week.
  • Availability for weekend or off-shift support as necessary.
  • Travel requirements of approximately 5% (domestic and international).
