Senior Principal Engineer

About the Role:
As a Senior Principal Engineer at American Honda Motor, you will spearhead strategic engineering initiatives within our powertrain manufacturing division, focusing on the critical aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Your leadership will be pivotal in guiding manufacturing principal engineers, providing technical direction for production lines, and overseeing the overall investment strategy for the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive leadership and mentorship to manufacturing Principal Engineers involved in mass production engineering tasks.
- Formulate and implement a long-term investment strategy aligned with production schedules and departmental needs.
- Serve as the technical evaluator for all new model and investment projects within the department.
- Design and execute staffing and development plans for engineering personnel within the department.
- Act as a technical expert supporting other North American engine manufacturing facilities.
- Facilitate departmental activities for category GP-RO-LO collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
Educational Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of Honda systems including production operations, E-Flow, and investment committee processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of precision manufacturing machine operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and related software.
Working Environment:
- Onsite work arrangement (80% office, 20% manufacturing area).
- Minimal travel requirements (approximately 5% domestic or international).
- Potential for 5-10 hours of overtime per week.
