Join Bonneville Labs as a Laboratory Operations Supervisor. This pivotal role is designed for an experienced professional who will oversee our lab facilities, ensuring optimal functionality and support for our diverse research initiatives. The selected candidate will report directly to the Head of Lab Operations and can choose to work from either our Hayward or Berkeley locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Leadership (Approx. 60% of Role)

  • Facilitate daily team meetings to enhance collaboration and address site-specific requirements.
  • Organize weekly leadership meetings for site leads, providing comprehensive reports to the Site Operations Manager.
  • Assist in onboarding new operational staff by developing training materials and updating the Internal Knowledge Base with essential lab operations information.
  • Establish and review process standards monthly, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement across all sites.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conduct regular system health checks on monitoring systems.
  • Manage site space management software, ensuring timely updates regarding equipment and memberships.
  • Oversee property management interactions, addressing concerns and conducting regular facility inspections.
  • Review and approve insurance certification requests.
  • Provide comprehensive member management by facilitating lab and non-lab services and delivering status updates to clients.
  • Coordinate with vendors to maintain equipment and services, ensuring timely maintenance.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to support audits and implement necessary health and safety protocols.
  • Organize daily tasks to ensure staff readiness and operational efficiency.
  • Review and approve invoices, ensuring accuracy in billing and service quotes.

Cross-Site Laboratory Operations Management (Approx. 40% of Role)

  • Oversee company-wide ticketing systems to ensure efficient service delivery and resource allocation.
  • Monitor ticketing system performance and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Incorporate all customer requests and contractual obligations into the ticketing system.
  • Update project planning systems as the primary operations contact.
  • Support the Cross-Site Operations Manager in scheduling and process management.
  • Conduct quarterly evaluations of site processes, providing constructive feedback to Site Leads.
  • Coordinate lab operations across multiple sites in collaboration with the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Lead discussions in weekly Operations Team Meetings.
  • Perform inspections of non-main sites to ensure compliance with operational standards.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in laboratory management, fostering a collaborative atmosphere while adeptly navigating the challenges of a small biotech environment. Key qualifications include:

  • Experience in a start-up or small laboratory setting.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a laboratory role.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications.
  • Outstanding customer service capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred qualifications include EH&S, Haz Mat, and Bloodborne pathogen training.
  • Experience with EH&S inspections is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • A BS degree in life sciences or a related field is preferred.

Working Environment:

This position requires in-person attendance at Bonneville Labs, located in either Hayward, CA or Berkeley, CA. Compensation is competitive and includes a structured bonus system based on company performance. Candidates should be prepared for travel between facilities as needed.
