The Laboratory Sanitation Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all laboratory equipment and utensils are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and prepared for use. This role includes end-of-day cleaning tasks, sweeping, and mopping as necessary. This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Pharmacy Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean all laboratory equipment and utensils as directed by the laboratory supervisor.
  • Properly organize and store cleaned items in designated areas for immediate use.
  • Transport dishes and supplies to their assigned locations.
  • Conduct end-of-day cleaning, which includes sweeping, mopping, sanitizing counters and sinks, and disposing of waste.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Keep track of non-drug inventory and assist in unpacking received items.
  • Engage in monthly deep cleaning sessions with fellow staff members.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

  • Understanding of and adherence to cleaning standards for laboratory environments.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with laboratory personnel.
  • Detail-oriented with a thorough approach to tasks.
  • Physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and wipe frequently.
  • Comfortable with frequent hand immersion in water.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or dishwashing role is preferred.
  • Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Must pass a drug screening, background check, and pre-employment verification.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Preferred candidates will hold a valid Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of California pharmacy laws relevant to Pharmacy Technicians is a plus.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
