OBJECTIVE:

The Inventory Operations Supervisor will oversee and enhance the systems and protocols for the efficient management of receiving, stocking, inventory counting, and loss mitigation within the Inventory Department. The primary goal of these initiatives is to maintain a well-organized and adequately stocked environment with precise inventory levels and reduced losses. The Supervisor will either directly execute these responsibilities or delegate tasks to ensure high standards of communication, accountability, and customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In alignment with company policies, manage the processes of receiving, stocking, and inventory counting, making critical decisions regarding these operations.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Inventory Manager to formulate inventory policies and procedures that promote seamless operations.
  • Engage with team members to motivate, train, and schedule staff in compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to company protocols concerning staff attendance and scheduling, assisting in employee evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Maintain daily interaction with inventory personnel to observe and guide their activities.
  • Provide operational guidance to Inventory Department staff, addressing procedural challenges as they arise.
  • Keep the Assistant Inventory Manager informed of significant issues and take prompt corrective measures when necessary.
  • Foster a positive work atmosphere that enhances team morale.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely vendor credits.
RECEIVING:
  • Supervise the receiving operations to guarantee that all documentation is accurately processed and updated promptly, rectifying any errors swiftly.
STOCKING:
  • Oversee the stocking processes to ensure incoming products are correctly processed, labeled, and shelved.
  • Ensure that special order merchandise is received and handled efficiently.
  • Regularly schedule backstock to be placed on shelves.
  • Assist in prioritizing departmental activities during periods of backlog.
  • Assign and monitor progress on special projects.
PURCHASING:
  • Collaborate with Buyers to maintain appropriate stock levels, manage seasonal items, phase out underperforming products, introduce new merchandise, and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Support training and feedback to ensure Buyers make informed purchasing decisions regarding pricing, delivery timeliness, and vendor relations.
  • Work with Buyers and suppliers to facilitate returns or exchanges of slow-moving stock.
  • Provide product information and training to sales staff regarding current and new offerings.
  • Oversee the return process for stock and special orders to ensure timely handling.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve billing issues related to inventory purchases and secure timely vendor credits.
BACK-STOCK AREAS:
  • Manage back-stock areas to ensure products are organized, properly stocked, and labeled.
  • Supervise the hardware order puller to ensure prompt and accurate preparation of hardware orders for delivery.
COUNTING:
  • Lead the development and scheduling of inventory counting activities to ensure accuracy in stock counts.
LOSS PREVENTION:
  • Oversee and implement programs to monitor and reduce loss activity, working closely with the Inventory Manager and Assistant Inventory Manager.
OTHER:
  • Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify areas needing attention regarding cleanliness, inventory levels, and back-stock, following up with necessary actions.
  • Review inventory reports daily to minimize stockouts and address negative counts, discontinuing items as appropriate.
  • Familiarize yourself with necessary computer and phone systems to perform tasks efficiently, including relevant software functions.
  • Assist the Assistant Inventory Manager in coordinating annual physical inventory counts.
  • Participate in purchasing events or trade shows as required.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth information flow and coordination of activities.
  • Assign and monitor progress on special departmental projects.
  • Contribute to company strategy and policy discussions during meetings as required.
  • Assist in special projects as directed by management, including logistical planning and space development.
