Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 Base (Dependent on Experience)

Bonneville Labs is seeking a Site Operations Manager to oversee our laboratory facilities. This exempt position will report directly to the Head of Lab Operations and can be based at either our Hayward or Berkeley location. The individual will be responsible for leading site operations, providing backup support for the Head of Operations, and engaging in a variety of projects. This role requires both independent work and collaboration with the Bonneville Lab Operations team to establish processes that equip member companies with the necessary services, supplies, and equipment for their research endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Leadership (Approx. 60% of Role)

  • Facilitate daily team meetings to enhance collaboration on site-specific requirements.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with all site leads and submit a report to the Site Operations Manager.
  • Assist in onboarding operations staff by developing training materials and updating the Internal Knowledge Base with relevant lab operations information.
  • Define and review process standards monthly, ensuring compliance and suggesting improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform regular health checks on monitoring systems, including necessary updates and maintenance.
  • Manage site space management software, ensuring timely updates regarding equipment and memberships.
  • Oversee property management interactions, addressing any issues and conducting monthly inspections.
  • Review and approve requests for insurance certification.
  • Support member management by assisting with lab and non-lab services and providing status updates.
  • Coordinate with vendors to maintain a timely servicing schedule for equipment.
  • Conduct site inspections, supporting audits and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Organize daily operations to ensure priorities are met and staff are prepared for their tasks.
  • Review and approve invoices and service quotes for accuracy.

Cross-Site Laboratory Operations Management (Approx. 40% of Role)

  • Manage the company-wide ticketing system to ensure efficient service delivery and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and report on ticketing system performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Incorporate all customer requests and contractual obligations into the ticketing system.
  • Update project planning systems as the primary operations contact.
  • Assist the Cross-Site Operations Manager in scheduling and managing processes.
  • Conduct quarterly evaluations of site processes and provide constructive feedback to Site Leads.
  • Coordinate lab operations activities across multiple sites in collaboration with the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Lead discussions in weekly Operations Team Meetings.
  • Perform inspections at non-main sites to ensure compliance with operating procedures.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing laboratory operations, fostering a collaborative environment, and navigating the challenges of a small biotech company. Experience with minor equipment repair and maintenance on standard lab equipment is preferred. A background in customer service and the ability to manage and delegate tasks effectively are essential for this role.

  • Experience in a start-up or small laboratory environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership or management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
  • Training in EH&S, Haz Mat, and Bloodborne pathogens is highly desirable.
  • Experience with EH&S inspections is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field preferred.

Working Environment:

  • This position requires in-person attendance at Bonneville Labs.
  • The posted salary range is firm for this role and includes a performance-based bonus structure.
  • Travel to other Bonneville Labs and member sites within the Bay Area is a requirement of this role.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary for travel between local facilities.
