The Laboratory Sanitation Specialist is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the pharmacy lab, ensuring that all equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and prepared for use. This full-time role involves end-of-day cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping, and reports directly to the Pharmacy Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly wash labware and utensils as directed by the lab supervisor.
  • Accurately organize and store cleaned equipment and supplies in designated areas for optimal accessibility.
  • Transport dishes and materials to their assigned locations.
  • Conduct end-of-day cleaning, which includes sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces, as well as managing waste disposal.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Keep track of non-drug inventory and assist in unpacking received items.
  • Engage in monthly deep cleaning initiatives alongside other team members.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of and compliance with cleaning standards specific to laboratory environments.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with lab personnel.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in task execution.
  • Physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Comfort with frequent hand immersion in water.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or dishwashing role is preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician license is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Successful completion of drug screening, background checks, and pre-employment verification is necessary.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Preferred candidates will have a Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of California pharmacy laws relevant to Pharmacy Technicians is advantageous.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs., and performing various physical tasks.
