Overview:
The Director of Business Development is tasked with identifying and nurturing new business prospects while ensuring profitable engagements.

This role demands a high level of customer interaction, particularly with senior stakeholders, alongside the ability to orchestrate successful integrated product solutions with various Safran Business Units.

Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the Strategic Plan aimed at profitable sales growth within the designated territory. Regularly provide forecasts and insights from customers to support ongoing sales expansion.

The position requires a proven track record in networking with OEMs and Airlines, enhancing relationships, identifying market opportunities, managing expectations, and successfully securing sales for new and existing products.

This role will primarily focus on OEM Accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance a dynamic and competitive sales environment by actively seeking new clients and strengthening ties with the current customer base.
  • Engage with key customers to foster relationships and assess or promote business opportunities.
  • Establish trusted relationships with customers to secure new business and maintain close coordination post-award to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop comprehensive territory and business segment strategies based on market research and competitive analysis to pinpoint potential markets, clients, and new offerings.
  • Proactively pursue new business opportunities and clientele.
  • Guarantee coordinated, responsive, and efficient service and issue resolution.
  • Participate in sales presentations and negotiations to maximize impact.
  • Formulate market and product development strategies in collaboration with the VP of Sales to support ongoing profitable growth and explore new markets.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and recommend strategies for successful outcomes.
  • Provide insights into customer decision-making processes.
  • Negotiate and develop commercial agreements.
  • Guide the structuring of customer proposals to align with their expectations.
  • Exhibit strong presentation skills for customer visits, trade shows, and public speaking engagements.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exercise considerable discretion in judgment.
  • Ensure professional engagement in key industry marketing and sales events.
  • Contribute to the development of winning bids and proposals.

  • Reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing
  • Engages daily with customers, the VP of Sales, other sales team members, customer service, product support, quality, finance, and other relevant departments.
Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or Project Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Relevant experience in Aerospace OEM or Aftermarket direct sales of technical systems, services, or products with over 10 years in sales to OEMs, airlines, and MROs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a sales territory or market.
  • Proven experience in entering new markets, adjusting market scope, or enhancing existing products.
  • Ability to accurately assess functionality, usability, and marketability of product features.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills for profitable contracts and pricing.
