Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to engage with the entertainment industry, including identifying and cultivating key relationships with industry professionals and government officials.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, including major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
  • Develop and implement stewardship plans to recognize and thank donors, including customized recognition strategies and donor communication.
  • Research and identify potential donors and prospects, utilizing tools such as donor management software and industry research.
  • Develop and implement Salon events to encourage donor cultivation and engagement.
  • Identify and invite celebrities to The Salvation Army's annual Sally Awards.
  • Assist in identifying and contacting potential honorees for the Sally Awards.
  • Assist local Corps and programs to facilitate fundraisers or awareness events.
  • Secure invitations to TV/movie premiers for members of the leadership team.
  • Assist with celebrity and entertainment participation in Red Kettle Kick Off's.
  • Establish and implement a plan for celebrity bell ringing with the Divisional Secretary for LA Metro.
  • Attend public events as needed.
  • Coordinate events and marketing needs with the Director of Communications & Marketing.
  • Plan and implement the annual Kettle Kick Off at the Farmer's Market.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in community relations with increasing responsibility.
  • Entertainment industry and government contacts, current book of contacts concentrated in Southern California.
  • Outstanding collaboration skills to work in partnership with professional and support staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, implementing, and evaluating cultivation and stewardship plans.
  • Strong relationship building skills, as well as a deep knowledge of the community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with donor management software and email applications.
  • Valid driver's license required. Travel as necessary.
  • Success managing through influence in a complex, diverse, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, including public speaking and articulating ideas clearly and succinctly.
  • Excellent strategic planning and resource management skills.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
