Key Responsibilities

The Research Analyst (RA) will assist in consulting activities related to federal and foundation grants and government relations for clients within the Healthcare Practice (HCP) sector. The RA will be responsible for conducting research and monitoring agency activities to support HCP Managing Directors and the broader HCP team. The role demands high-quality results with meticulous attention to detail and effective communication in a dynamic environment with varying deadlines.

Specific duties include:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant grant programs across federal agencies such as HRSA, NIH, AHRQ, SAMHSA, CDC, PCORI, USDA, DOD, ACF, among others.
  • Develop insights into HCP client strengths and interests to identify grant opportunities that align with their strategic research objectives.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas for monthly client portfolio meetings; participate in these meetings and document minutes.
  • Create memoranda or summaries regarding funding opportunities, agency initiatives, and legislative activities for both internal and client reference.
  • Collaborate directly with HCP Managing Directors to address client needs related to research, proposal development, and grant-seeking strategies.
  • Provide administrative and project management support to grant project teams, including participating in client meetings, maintaining organized project records, tracking project activities, and assisting with document preparation.
  • Support strategic intelligence initiatives for onboarding new clients.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of grantsmanship workshops, webinars, and training sessions.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by aiding in the preparation of responses to requests for proposals and researching potential client leads.
  • Assist HCP Vice President, HCP Core Team, and/or Managing Directors with special projects as required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Standard work hours are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday; presence in the Washington, DC office is required for three or more days a week.

  • Salary will be commensurate with experience, with a range of $58,000 - $62,000 annual base salary and eligibility for bonuses.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a life or health science-related field, or a different discipline with 1-3 years of relevant grants administration experience.
  • Familiarity with federal grant programs, funding databases, and grant-seeking strategies.
  • Excellent verbal communication and superior writing and editing skills.
  • Understanding of terminology in academic literature related to various health topics.
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Able to synthesize and analyze complex information accurately.
  • Creative, service-oriented, and adaptable professional capable of independently resolving issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Teams.
  • Able to remain stationary during the workday (up to 80%) and move around the office as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Research Administration or Research Development unit within a healthcare system or higher education.
  • Familiarity with the GrantForward funding opportunity database.
  • Certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Certified Pre-Award Administrator (CPRA).
