Position Title: Healthcare Customer Service Specialist

Position Summary / Career Interest:

This role is essential in ensuring a welcoming environment for patients and visitors at our outpatient registration areas. The Healthcare Customer Service Specialist is typically the initial point of contact for individuals seeking assistance, and exceptional customer service skills are a fundamental requirement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Verify patient information and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and signed.
  • Collect and maintain copies of insurance cards and identification, accurately entering and updating patient demographic and insurance details in the computer system.
  • Organize and maintain all forms and documents in the patient's medical record.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, including coordinating and adjusting patient appointments based on requests and provider availability.
  • Adhere to the 'No-Show' procedure and conduct appointment reminder calls.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly, screen inquiries, and take comprehensive messages, ensuring all necessary triage information is collected.
  • Efficiently relay information to nursing and medical support staff in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Collect patient co-pays and outstanding balances consistently.
  • Prepare office batches and balance patient payments at the end of each workday.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, assisting with communication regarding referrals and scheduling specialist appointments.
  • Check out patients, providing visit-specific information and scheduling future appointments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area.
  • Accurately enter patient clinical information in the electronic medical record as related to assigned tasks.
  • Participate actively as a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Graduate
  • Previous Related Experience

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Previous Healthcare Experience
