The Chief People and Operations Officer will play a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing a center of excellence shared service model at The Ladders. This position will oversee a team of skilled professionals dedicated to developing, leading, and enhancing processes in areas such as Benefits, Compensation, HRIS systems, Compliance and Policy, Employee Relations, and Payroll. This role is essential for driving the operational engine that supports the current and future growth potential of The Ladders, with a concentrated effort on ensuring that programs are crafted to meet organizational and operational goals in alignment with the company's growth strategy, while also developing metrics that facilitate the achievement of these objectives. A crucial aspect of this role is to provide governance, structure, and discipline behind standardized HR processes across a diverse and decentralized workforce. The individual will enable the creation of systems and programs that function seamlessly from the operational level to the corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities and tasks will encompass the following:
  • Supervise functional HR elements and a team of HR professionals consistently seeking enhancements to the employee experience from onboarding through exit processes.
  • Evaluate current workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through case management and future self-service technologies. Establish clear performance indicators and service level agreements.
  • Deliver data insights and workforce analytics to provide a comprehensive view of organizational health and support HR planning.
  • Develop formal HR governance structures and metrics that are well-defined and supported by the business and HR business partners.
  • Assess and propose solutions for administrative processes, including outsourcing and automation opportunities.
  • Provide expertise to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements, collaborating with key stakeholders such as Legal, Safety, IT, and Marketing.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and actively engage within the professional HR community, driving the organization to continuously adopt best practices in HR and business operations.
  • Ensure HR processes are developed and executed in compliance with all legal and organizational standards and procedures, partnering with internal General Counsel to monitor compliance progress.
  • Oversee the administration and evaluation of all compensation and benefits programs to create an attractive employee proposition that draws in highly capable, mission-aligned talent.
  • Manage relationships with strategic vendors effectively.
  • Optimize HRIS to fulfill workforce and compliance needs while creating opportunities for automation, reporting, and reducing manual processes.
  • Assist with Human Resource projects to ensure that HR policies and procedures evolve to meet overall business requirements, ensuring project delivery aligns with third-party service providers and business units.
  • Provide information and coordinate activities related to established HR policies, procedures, or regulations.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to strategic business discussions.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business challenges and propose solutions through process or technical means.
  • Ensure HR Centers of Excellence maintain active governance over suppliers and service providers to guarantee superior implementation of technology, upgrades, updates, defect resolution, and project execution.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
  • Proven experience in developing shared service HR models with expertise in Benefits, Compensation, Employee Relations, Compliance, and Talent Acquisition.
  • Strong technological and data analytics skills, with the ability to interpret data effectively. Previous experience in identifying and launching an HRIS system is preferred.
  • Proficient in change management and project management methodologies, knowledgeable in process mapping, RACI charts, project charters, and project management tools such as Microsoft Lists and Microsoft Planner.
  • Comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment and willing to build systems from the ground up.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of multitasking and working independently while contributing to the overall success of the team.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in Human Resources, HRIS, Compensation/Benefits, and Analytics.
  • Experience in developing Compliance and Policy frameworks for organizations.
  • Experience in establishing Employee Relations and Compliance processes.
Technical Skills: Essential technical and soft skills include:
  • Proficiency in calendar and scheduling software such as Microsoft Outlook and Kronos.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel for analytics, data management, pivot tables, and formulas.
  • Familiarity with electronic mail software, including Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Proficient in office suite software such as Teams, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, Google Suite, Microsoft Lists, and Microsoft Planner.
  • Experience with video conferencing software, particularly Microsoft Teams.
Work Environment:
  • Primarily sedentary work under a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence three days a week.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
