Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Biological Research Scientist to join our innovative research team focused on cardiovascular pathophysiology and vascular cell biology. Our laboratory investigates the underlying mechanisms of coronary vascular complications associated with diabetes and Kawasaki disease, as well as pulmonary vascular pathobiology in pulmonary hypertension. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in executing complex experiments and assays that are essential to our impactful research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead advanced cardiac and vascular physiological experiments both in vivo and ex vivo, as well as electrophysiological studies utilizing isolated vascular cells.
  • Conduct cardiovascular assessments including cardiac and vascular function evaluations using advanced systems, creating ischemia/reperfusion models, and performing detailed dissections of small arteries for tension experiments.
  • Execute molecular biological techniques such as Western Blot, PCR, qPCR, and FACS to support research objectives.
  • Collaborate with fellow researchers to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory equipment, manage research documentation, and oversee the maintenance of transgenic mouse colonies.
  • Analyze experimental data, contribute to grant and manuscript writing, and present findings during lab meetings.
  • Mentor and train visiting scholars, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students in the design and execution of molecular biological experiments.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support laboratory operations.


Expected Salary:

$56,000 - $74,000 annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related discipline with seven years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with five years of experience, or a Doctoral degree with two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced cardiovascular physiology.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques for cell culture.
  • Experience in evaluating cardiac and vascular function, generating ischemia/reperfusion models, and isolating vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells.
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques including Western Blot, immunoprecipitation, PCR, qPCR, and FACS.
  • Ability to contribute to experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in scientific manuscript writing and collaborative teamwork in physiological and molecular biology research.
  • Effective time management skills to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Experience working with animal models and human tissues.
  • Familiarity with specialized software such as SnapGene, GraphPad, EndNote, and MS Office Suite.
  • A passion for scientific research and a willingness to learn new methodologies and principles.
