Under general supervision, the Financial Specialist is responsible for coordinating financial activities associated with various departments. Key responsibilities include maintaining, monitoring, and tracking financial transactions, accounts, internal controls, and other duties as assigned by the unit administrator. This role significantly contributes to the University’s objective of enhancing research funding through effective account management.

Position Summary

The Financial Specialist will perform essential duties including:

  • Assisting with account reconciliation and maintenance across multiple units within the Knowledge Enterprise.
  • Updating and adjusting various records and logs, such as journals and accounting adjustments.
  • Ensuring accuracy in amounts and accounting codes on business documents.
  • Balancing entries and implementing necessary corrections.
  • Conducting weekly P-Card verification reports and reconciling assigned P-Cards.
  • Maintaining files with supporting documentation for reconciliation.
  • Collaborating with cashiering for deposit completion.
  • Assisting in the review and processing of staff reimbursement requests.
  • Facilitating payments to suppliers, either directly or against active Purchase Orders.
  • Compiling routine numerical data for reporting purposes.
  • Identifying areas for process improvement and drafting changes to procedures.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
