Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Coordinator to join our team at Arizona State University. This role will be responsible for coordinating financial activities, ensuring adherence to unit and university policies, practices, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Assistant Director to coordinate financial activities, including budget management, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Investigate financial discrepancies and collaborate with financial services to resolve issues.
  • Review and approve travel requests, ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Provide sponsored post-award management for assigned units, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Review account expenditures, preparing and maintaining documentation for audits.
  • Prepare journal entries, general ledger expense transfers, payroll redistributions, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare budget adjustments and amendments, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Review requisitions for completeness and accuracy, identifying sources, obtaining quotes, negotiating price and terms, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Perform clerical functions, including data entry, report preparation, and other related tasks.
  • Maintain and audit unit-wide financial documentation and files.
  • Participate in departmental, unit, and university-wide initiatives and meetings to represent financial interests and ensure integration and collaborative support.
  • Assist with invoicing, independent contractors, and award disbursements.
  • Assist with the Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) and Graduate Student Associate (GSA) hiring process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to finance or accounting.
  • One year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
