Position Overview

The Technical Services Regional Director plays a pivotal role in steering strategic initiatives aligned with organizational standards to enhance operational reliability. This leadership position collaborates closely with plant management teams and engineering to drive significant improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transformation of the Plant Network, focusing on Safety, technical expertise, financial performance, and organizational culture.
  • Act as the primary technical authority in the region, serving as the liaison between Operations and Reliability Engineering.
  • Oversee a team of Technical Systems Managers, Performance Improvement Managers, and Vision System Engineers.

Location

Field-Based, North Region USA - Requires significant travel, ideally situated near a major airport.

Performance Metrics

  • Asset Performance Metrics – including Process Reliability, MTBF, MTTR, Uptime, and Availability.
  • Departmental Performance Indicators – focusing on labor utilization and repair quality.
  • Work Execution Metrics – such as schedule adherence and operational efficiency.
  • Cost Management – monitoring maintenance and component expenditures.

Core Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement procedures for loss reduction, risk management, and lifecycle asset management.
  • Contribute to the design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.
  • Provide technical leadership across Northern Territory locations.
  • Participate in the final verification of new installations, ensuring compliance with functional specifications.
  • Guide initiatives to enhance the reliability and maintainability of equipment and systems.
  • Formulate engineering solutions to recurring issues impacting plant operations.
  • Establish training programs on preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Lead daily operations to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
  • Facilitate the transition of new projects and manage the demobilization of existing ones.
  • Implement a KPI system to identify opportunities for improvement in facility reliability.
  • Optimize the use of CMMS for maintenance and material management.
  • Incorporate safety, quality, and cost-efficiency into maintenance programs.
  • Review and recommend enhancements for maintenance control systems.
  • Prepare technical reports analyzing plant performance and identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and finance leaders to drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Work with quality and health & safety teams to enhance product quality and worker safety.
  • Serve as the liaison for the Vice President of Operations in the region.
  • Support global standardization efforts through collaboration with international Process Engineering leaders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or substantial related experience.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 15 years of engineering or project management experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a production or operations environment.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills across all organizational levels.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to balance tactical actions with strategic planning.
  • Expertise in capital project justification methods.
  • Strong financial management skills with a focus on capital expenditures.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project and AutoCAD.
