Position Overview

The Regional Technical Services Manager plays a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction of operational excellence within the organization. This leadership position is essential for establishing organizational standards that prioritize operational reliability and efficiency.

This role involves overseeing the transformation of the Plant Network, focusing on critical areas such as Safety, technical expertise, financial performance, and organizational culture. The manager will also spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing Process Reliability across the CHEP North American Plant network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership within the designated region, serving as the primary liaison between the Vice President of Operations and Reliability Engineering.
  • Lead a diverse team that includes Technical Systems Managers, Performance Improvement Managers, and Vision System Engineers.
  • Drive the development and implementation of procedures for loss elimination, risk management, and lifecycle asset management.
  • Participate in the design and installation specifications, as well as commissioning plans for new projects.
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment and processes, while guiding efforts to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop solutions to recurring issues affecting plant operations and contribute to the formulation of maintenance policies and practices.
  • Deliver training on preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies to team members.
  • Implement strategies to minimize downtime and improve equipment availability and utilization.
  • Establish a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) system to monitor facility reliability and asset utilization.
  • Optimize the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for effective maintenance and material management.
  • Incorporate safety, quality, and cost efficiency into maintenance programs.
  • Review and recommend improvements for maintenance control and reporting systems.
  • Prepare technical reports analyzing plant performance and identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and finance leadership to drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Work closely with quality and Health & Safety teams to enhance product quality and worker safety.

Qualifications

Experience

  • At least 15 years of engineering or project management experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a production or operations environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills across all organizational levels.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to balance tactical actions with strategic planning.
  • Proficient in capital project justification methods.
  • Strong financial management skills with a focus on capital expenditure.
  • Familiarity with project management and engineering tools.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
