Job Overview

Systems engineering is a multifaceted engineering discipline that emphasizes a holistic approach, mindset, and methodology.

This role encompasses all activities that address both the commercial and technical requirements of clients, aiming to deliver a high-quality product that fulfills user expectations.

The discipline involves a thorough process of design, development, and enhancement of systems, which includes identifying and quantifying system requirements, generating alternative design concepts, conducting design trade studies, selecting and implementing optimal designs, and ensuring proper integration and execution of the design.

This process spans from initial concept through production to operational deployment.
It significantly influences the team's capacity to meet service, quality, and timeliness objectives. The position operates under established policy guidelines, allowing for moderate autonomy. High levels of operational judgment are essential to achieve the desired outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Directs design activities at the component, module, and system levels.
  • Oversees product and systems requirements, specifications, and their dissemination.
  • Facilitates validation and verification processes for the complete product/system, including system-level testing.
  • Coordinates the interface between design, systems, and execution teams. Establishes product requirements (both internal and external), defines components and subsystems that comprise the overall architecture, and provides strategic direction for platform and technology development to maintain product competitiveness. Defines and manages scope (clarifying the objectives).
  • Cultivates specialized expertise in their field. Acts as a resource for best practices and quality assurance. Remains informed about the latest technical advancements in their area. Contributes to strategy and policy formulation, ensuring effective delivery within their domain.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of best practices and understands how their area integrates with others; has insight into competitors and the differentiating factors in the market.
  • Utilizes judgment to make decisions or resolve moderately complex challenges in operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Approaches existing solutions from new perspectives. Applies technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations, drawing from multiple internal and limited external sources.
  • Serves as a mentor for less experienced colleagues. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource needs. Communicates complex or sensitive information; works towards consensus. Develops persuasive skills necessary to influence others on relevant topics.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 6 years of experience in mechanical design or systems integration.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the Aerospace sector or a related industry.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in gearbox and lubrication system development.
Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with aviation engine design or certification standards.
  • 10 years of experience in the design and development of turbomachinery.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities. Effectively communicates and coordinates with both internal and external stakeholders. Engages concisely and appropriately with senior leadership teams.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead programs/projects.
  • Proficient in documenting, planning, marketing, and executing programs.
  • Established project management expertise.
  • Committed to mentorship and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience working with global cross-functional teams. Able to operate effectively in both a global team environment and independently. 10 years of experience in an engineering role, particularly with global and cross-functional teams. Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Demonstrated process-oriented approach to work.
