We are in search of a proficient and seasoned mechanical design engineer. The ideal candidate will mentor junior design engineers and drive advancements in the design of structural components for aircraft engines. This position is essential for the evolution of our next generation of aircraft engines.

The hybrid work model entails a minimum of three days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home on other days, depending on team and project requirements.

Successful candidates will be recognized experts in engineering design, having achieved significant milestones that elevate their standing as a vital resource within the organization. Broadly, this role involves coaching and guiding less experienced engineers, tackling our most intricate challenges, and establishing benchmarks for excellence in engineering design. Comparable titles in other engineering firms may include Senior Principal Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Senior Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a recognized technical authority in mechanical structure design, providing guidance to management, design teams, and suppliers.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art aircraft engine technologies and GE Renewable Energy's design methodologies.
  • Assist engineering teams in preparing for design reviews through our established processes.
  • Support teams addressing the organization's most critical challenges or innovative technology initiatives.
  • Offer technical leadership during design reviews, task forces, industrial committees, and design boards.
  • Identify areas for improvement in mechanical design knowledge and recommend necessary technical training.
  • Lead efforts to ensure the seamless integration of new technologies into production.
  • Propose areas for technological advancements and suggest strategies or programs to achieve these goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of post-Bachelor's experience in structural or mechanical design engineering, specifically for turbomachinery applications.
  • At least 3 years of experience in mentoring or leading engineering teams.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Collaborative approach, appreciating and enhancing team diversity.
  • Experience in resolving mechanical design challenges in structural applications.
  • Expertise in mechanical design for aerospace propulsion systems.
  • 10 or more years of engineering experience.
  • Capability to mentor engineers, define strategic objectives, solve complex problems, and advance the field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
