Position Summary
The Hot Structures Design Engineer will work under the guidance of the Large Military Engineering Low Pressure Turbine Leader. This role encompasses the design, manufacturability, and integration of hot structures components. The engineer will be responsible for specific elements of the turbine rear frame (TRF), aft center body, and other hot structures within the low pressure turbine (LPT) segment, particularly for the F110 Series and Advanced Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, and maintain TRF LPT structure components, ensuring compliance with both static and dynamic performance criteria through the application of engineering principles.
  • Collaborate with military stakeholders to innovate and enhance existing technologies for improved product performance.
  • Engage in cross-functional teamwork, fostering collaboration across various engineering disciplines.
  • Deepen technical expertise in structural engineering by partnering with mentors within the Chief Engineer's Office, leveraging past experiences to inform strategic decisions.
  • Interface with internal and external clients, including military organizations such as the United States Air Force and Navy.
  • Lead initiatives focused on safety and quality in relation to assigned hardware.
  • Support manufacturing processes to ensure timely delivery of engines to military clients.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Value Chain Planning (VCP) Lab, Manufacturing Programs, and Supply Chain to identify and implement cost-reduction strategies.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of business drivers, utilizing this knowledge to effectively contribute to team objectives.
  • Exercise sound judgment in proposing innovative solutions while adhering to established guidelines, drawing on previous experience and training to tackle routine challenges.
  • Function as an individual contributor with strong interpersonal skills or as an emerging leader capable of nurturing talent within the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in the design and manufacturing of aerospace hot structures.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS and NX Unigraphics software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong project management competencies.
