Position Overview

The Financial Operations Analyst acts as a pivotal financial resource for various enterprise functional sectors. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, this role provides essential business partner support and analytical insights. The analyst will facilitate the annual budgeting process and bi-annual forecasting for all corporate shared service administrative expenses, conduct monthly financial reviews with leadership, and serve as the financial liaison for all fiscal matters.

Key Responsibilities

Budget Management

  • Implement the F1, F2, and annual forecasting processes while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish standardized reporting mechanisms across all administrative divisions (both departmental and executive).
  • Oversee monthly budgets to facilitate expense reviews with leadership.
  • Assist in preparing materials for monthly meetings with senior management.
  • Develop monthly budgets that incorporate cost drivers for more accurate financial allocations.
  • Monitor and document monthly expense accruals, coordinating with Accounts Payable and the accounting team.
  • Support the verification of Affordability of Care (AOC) initiatives.
  • Enhance processes related to capital requests, approvals, and reporting.
  • Document financial procedures.

Financial Analysis

  • Contribute to various ad hoc financial analysis projects as assigned.
  • Projects may encompass membership shifts, system consolidations, and automation impacts.
  • Assist the Corporate Finance Manager with regulatory reporting and benchmarking tasks.

Service Excellence

  • Exhibit exemplary business practices.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team and business partners to achieve shared objectives, ensuring timely communication and support.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of business operations to effectively represent your areas of responsibility.
  • Employ critical thinking to constructively challenge decisions and processes, aiming for optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business is required.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's) is preferred.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA) is preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance, operations, and process management is required.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous.

Skills

  • Expertise in budget management and related techniques.
  • Proficient in financial systems (e.g., IBM Cognos) and modeling tools.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Capacity to implement new processes and work in undefined areas.
  • Analytical skills to synthesize and organize information for actionable insights.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and leadership abilities to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Understanding of technology and operations related to health plan systems.
  • Strategic thinking skills to derive meaningful insights and identify business implications.
