Job Overview

Alta Southwest is on the lookout for enthusiastic and driven engineering interns to contribute to our operations in the Phoenix and Tucson regions. The ideal candidates will possess a solid educational background in fields such as geotechnical, civil, geological, environmental, or mechanical engineering, as well as construction or related disciplines. We are a comprehensive Engineering, Surveying, and Construction Material Testing firm, partnering with esteemed architects, developers, contractors, institutions, and government entities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field sampling and testing activities.
  • Collect and categorize soil samples for geotechnical assessments.
  • Assist in executing Phase I Environmental Site Evaluations.
  • Support the preparation of technical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively in teams or independently on simpler projects.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and successfully pass a drug screening.

  • Commitment to safety standards and practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Results-oriented mindset with keen attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions and may need to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements:

Travel will primarily be local during standard business hours.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be currently enrolled in a college program or be recent graduates holding a bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

A valid driver's license is necessary, along with the ability to commute to project sites.

Supervisory Role:

This internship does not entail any supervisory responsibilities.

All candidates must be prepared to fulfill pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include a criminal/civil background check and drug screening.
