YOUR NEXT ROLE:
The Engineer III position is a senior-level engineering role responsible for delivering technical engineering insights and support to ensure adherence to project specifications and all relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulations. This role requires advanced subject matter expertise and the ability to mentor and guide junior staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of engineers and designers on project assignments or individual initiatives.
- May serve as the Engineer of Record for designated projects.
- Oversee, review, and process equipment and system submissions.
- Manage coordination among architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines.
- Direct the preparation of designs, including power, lighting, and auxiliary systems.
- Supervise the creation of power system single-line diagrams, including feeder sizing and equipment elevations.
- Conduct or supervise short circuit and over-current protection device coordination studies and Arc Flash Studies.
- Perform distribution analysis, including voltage drop and underground heat effect calculations.
- Oversee project specifications and equipment procurement.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing electrical conditions.
- Utilize engineering analysis tools and professional judgment to evaluate loads and lighting levels.
- Engage in value engineering assessments to analyze construction costs.
- Participate in project design team meetings and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Work closely with project management to align design criteria with budget and schedule requirements.
- Investigate and resolve drawing interpretation issues and conflicts during installation.
- Develop comprehensive project specifications.
- Create detailed sequences of operations for all designed systems.
- Possess a working knowledge of equipment testing and commissioning.
- Apply conventional electrical engineering principles to design high-tech, mission-critical facilities.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Supervise project design and progress, coordinating with local authorities and agencies.
- Establish schedules and manage electrical engineering tasks.
- Prepare documentation for building commissioning.
- Address complex issues related to design requirements and material suitability.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
- On-site field experience is strongly encouraged.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the United States is required.
- A combination of education, training, and relevant experience is acceptable.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution and applicable codes.
- Proficiency in Autodesk, Microsoft Office Suite, illumination software, and engineering productivity tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a collaborative team spirit.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Up to 50% travel may be required (excluding local site visits).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- General office environment – prolonged sitting, standing, and typing.
- Work is primarily indoors with variable conditions, including fluorescent lighting.
- Noise levels are typically low to moderate.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. may be necessary.
