Clinical Surgery Faculty Position

The Clinical Surgery Faculty Member will play a pivotal role in advancing the objectives of the Division and Department of Surgery. This position entails comprehensive preoperative, postoperative, and intraoperative management of patients, alongside the execution of sophisticated open and laparoscopic surgical procedures. The incumbent will be instrumental in establishing a robust clinical and academic practice in general surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional pre-, post-, and intraoperative patient care.
  • Conduct advanced surgical operations, both open and laparoscopic.
  • Foster the development of a clinical and academic general surgery practice.
  • Engage in the education and mentorship of surgical residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Contribute to direct patient care and participate in support services encompassing rehabilitation, nutrition, psychological support, and preventive initiatives within general surgical services.
  • Oversee and attend to outpatient clinics and offices as required.
  • Provide on-call coverage as part of the surgical team.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The candidate must possess specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of surgical conditions, including:

  • Alimentary tract
  • Abdominal cavity and its contents
  • Breast, skin, and soft tissue
  • Head and neck, with a focus on trauma, vascular, endocrine, congenital, and oncological disorders
  • Vascular system, excluding intracranial vessels and heart
  • Endocrine system, including thyroid and adrenal glands
  • Surgical oncology, emphasizing comprehensive cancer patient management
  • Trauma management, including musculoskeletal and head injuries
  • Critical care for patients with surgical conditions in emergency and intensive care settings

Educational Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a one-year fellowship in a surgical specialty.
  • Eligibility for Florida Medical License and DEA License.
  • Board eligibility or certification in General Surgery.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in open and laparoscopic surgical techniques, with familiarity in standard practices within the field of general surgery.
