The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is undergoing significant growth and is in search of outstanding candidates to enhance its faculty.

The Neuroanesthesia and Perioperative Neurosciences Division is dedicated to providing comprehensive perioperative care for patients undergoing both elective and emergency neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures across multiple facilities.

This division plays a crucial role in the patient's perioperative experience, ensuring optimal care through strong interdisciplinary collaboration with neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical teams.

Our commitment to advancing medical care is further exemplified by our leading programs, including the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, which focus on improving and saving lives on a global scale.

Each year, we perform over 1,000 spine surgeries, 1,000 neurological procedures, and 300 neuro-interventional interventions.



Employment Requirements:

Applicants for this role should have completed a residency in Anesthesiology accredited in the United States, along with a minimum of one year of fellowship training in Neuro-anesthesiology or possess equivalent training and certification.

Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is a prerequisite for this position. (Equivalence to board certification will be evaluated on an individual basis). While prior research experience is not mandatory, it is highly valued.

This role involves delivering high-quality clinical care, engaging in educational activities, and contributing to research initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in academic endeavors related to clinical and basic research as well as medical education.

Applicants should be adept at supervising residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs, and should be prepared to perform cases independently when necessary.

Involvement in departmental academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, as well as participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings, is essential.

Responsibilities include educating residents, fellows, and medical students, with some clinical duties in general anesthesia potentially required based on departmental needs. The distribution of responsibilities may adjust according to departmental requirements, the interests of the candidates, and success in securing external grant funding.

Compensation will be determined based on years of experience and the assessment of professorial rank at the time of hiring.
