POSITION SUMMARY

As a Technical IT Specialist at STAAR Surgical, you will be integral to our Information Technology division, collaborating closely with various business units to enhance IT solutions and strategic initiatives. This role primarily focuses on helpdesk and deskside support services, ensuring the seamless operation of local systems infrastructure through effective planning, implementation, and technical assistance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate under general supervision while independently crafting solutions that align with customer and functional goals.
  • Oversee specific projects, programs, or customer accounts as assigned.
  • Regularly update management on the status of ongoing projects and activities.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of helpdesk and deskside services to uphold compliance with established policies.
  • Manage service levels for helpdesk and deskside operations, as well as inventory owned by STAAR Surgical.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure adherence to desktop technology standards and address future capacity needs.
  • Perform maintenance and updates on existing operating systems and hardware.
  • Investigate and resolve system-related issues and performance challenges.
  • Schedule and manage the installation and upkeep of software and hardware, ensuring effective communication throughout the process.
  • Conduct initial root cause analyses on malfunctioning components, implementing corrective actions and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Adhere to company-specific systems engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with systems and network engineering teams to support local IT infrastructure.
  • Engage in the design and execution of new helpdesk and deskside service projects.
  • Manage multiple tasks related to helpdesk and deskside services.
  • Act as a representative for helpdesk and deskside services in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills with current technology versions.
  • Build strong relationships with customers to enhance service delivery.
  • Proactively seek to understand industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies to optimize operations and reduce costs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CompTIA A+ certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification is preferred but not mandatory.

EXPERIENCE

1 to 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is preferred.

  • Contextualizes issues within organizational and functional goals.
  • Applies project management methodologies effectively.
  • Experience in providing support for laptops, PCs, phones, and peripheral devices in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with incident and problem management systems.
  • Capable of producing detailed technical documentation.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in supporting Windows Desktops, including operating systems, hardware, encryption, antivirus, and peripherals.
  • Knowledgeable in supporting manufacturing technology, such as barcode printers, scanners, device management, and PLC/SCADA is a significant advantage.
