POSITION SUMMARY

As an IT Support Specialist within STAAR Surgical's Information Technology division, this role is pivotal in collaborating with various business units and the IT department to facilitate effective IT solutions and strategic planning. This position primarily focuses on helpdesk and deskside support services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate under general supervision and guidance.
  • Develop comprehensive solutions that align with functional or customer needs independently.
  • Manage specific programs, clients, and/or projects as assigned.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding project and activity progress.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of helpdesk and deskside services to ensure adherence to established policies.
  • Oversee helpdesk and deskside service quality and manage STAAR Surgical's inventory.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors to maintain and implement desktop and deskside technology standards, ensuring future scalability.
  • Perform maintenance on existing operating systems and hardware components.
  • Identify and resolve system issues and performance challenges.
  • Schedule and manage the installation and upkeep of software and hardware, ensuring effective communication.
  • Conduct initial root cause analysis on malfunctioning components, implement corrective actions, and escalate as necessary.
  • Adhere to company-specific systems engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with systems and network engineering teams to support local IT infrastructure.
  • Engage in the design of new helpdesk and deskside service initiatives.
  • Manage multiple tasks related to helpdesk and deskside services efficiently.
  • Act as a representative for helpdesk and deskside services in cross-departmental projects.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills with current technology versions.
  • Foster relationships with customers to enhance service delivery.
  • Continuously seek to understand industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies to optimize operations and reduce expenses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• CompTIA A+ certification is preferred but not mandatory.

• CompTIA Network+ certification is preferred but not mandatory.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is preferred.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Growing knowledge in related fields.

  • Contextualizes issues within organizational and functional goals.
  • Applies project management methodologies effectively.
  • Experience in providing support for laptops, PCs, phones, and peripheral devices such as printers and docking stations in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with incident and problem management systems.
  • Able to produce detailed technical documentation.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in supporting Windows desktops, including operating systems, hardware, encryption, antivirus, and peripherals.
  • Knowledgeable in supporting manufacturing operations technology, including barcode label printers, handheld barcode scanners, device management, and PLC/SCADA systems is a significant advantage.
