Senior Laboratory IT Support Specialist:

The Senior Laboratory IT Support Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for IT-related incidents within the laboratory setting, managing tasks that range from setting up computers to troubleshooting lab equipment in collaboration with vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and prioritize IT incidents for the Laboratory Operations team.
  • Work closely with laboratory managers and external vendors to resolve IT challenges.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues, oversee asset management, and maintain an accurate inventory.
  • Facilitate regular discussions with laboratory managers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage the imaging, configuration, and deployment of laboratory instruments.
  • Create and adhere to technical documentation for processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT, particularly in Tier 2/3 support or VIP escalation.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting a variety of devices, data management, and scripting capabilities.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management tools (such as ServiceNow, Jira), Active Directory, and Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively connect scientists, IT personnel, and administrative staff.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting across Windows XP-11 operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of scripting languages.
  • Ability to SSH into Linux systems for troubleshooting purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Network+.
  • Experience in laboratory environments and knowledge of laboratory systems (e.g., Thermofisher, Illumina).
  • Understanding of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines and clinical trial processes.

This position requires on-site presence and a commitment to a standard 40-hour work week.
