Senior IT Support Specialist for Laboratory Operations:

The Senior IT Support Specialist serves as the primary resource for addressing IT-related issues within laboratory settings, managing a range of responsibilities from setting up computers to resolving technical problems with laboratory equipment alongside vendors.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assess and prioritize IT-related incidents for the Lab Operations team.
  • Work collaboratively with laboratory managers and external vendors to address IT challenges.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues, oversee asset management, and keep track of inventory.
  • Facilitate regular discussions with laboratory management.
  • Manage the imaging, configuration, and deployment of laboratory instruments.
  • Create and adhere to technical documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT, including Tier 2/3 support or handling VIP escalations.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting a variety of devices, data management, and scripting.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management tools (such as ServiceNow, Jira), Active Directory, and Linux systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively connect scientists, IT personnel, and administrative staff.
  • Experience troubleshooting across Windows XP to Windows 11 operating systems.
  • Basic scripting knowledge.
  • Capability to SSH into Linux systems for troubleshooting purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Network+.
  • Experience in laboratory environments and knowledge of laboratory systems (e.g., Thermofisher, Illumina).
  • Understanding of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines and clinical trial processes.

This position requires on-site presence and entails a standard 40-hour work week.
