Position Title: Instructional Specialist: ABI Program (Non-Credit) - Adjunct Professor

Department: ACCESS

Division: Student Services

Compensation: $61 per hour (based on lecture hour equivalent)

Position Overview:

This is a temporary, hourly position without permanent status.

This role involves a CONTINUOUS recruitment process for a pool of applicants to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments as needed. Departments will refer to this pool of applications to fill temporary roles as opportunities arise. Candidates will be contacted for interviews if selected by the hiring manager.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Act as the Instructor of Record for the Acquired Brain Injury Program, supervising the educational activities of students within the Assistive Technology Center.
2) Design, develop, and implement tailored instructional strategies for ABI students, while monitoring their progress.
3) Support students in utilizing campus assistive technology for their academic endeavors.
4) Evaluate and assess the suitability of available cognitive and academic software for student use.
5) Execute related tasks as assigned, ensuring compliance with administrative responsibilities and institutional policies.

Required Qualifications:

A. One of the following qualifications from a regionally accredited institution:
  1. Master's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology; OR
  2. Master's degree in a comparable foreign degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology or Communication Disorders; OR
  3. Current California license as a Speech-Language Pathologist; OR
  4. California Community College credential, "Valid for Life" (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the relevant discipline.

B. A commitment to the community college mission of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse needs; the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment; and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by non-traditional students.
