Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our Seafood Department at Whole Foods Market. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, driving sales growth, and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Development
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team of seafood associates to achieve sales and customer service goals.
    • Coach and mentor team members to improve their skills and knowledge.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Sales and Customer Service
    • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth and increase customer loyalty.
    • Ensure exceptional customer service by responding promptly to customer needs and resolving issues in a timely manner.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of seafood products and services to provide expert recommendations to customers.
  • Inventory Management and Merchandising
    • Assist in the management of seafood inventory, including ordering and receiving products.
    • Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product displays to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including food safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the seafood department and surrounding areas.
Requirements
  • 18+ months retail team member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
  • High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
  • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
  • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Thorough product knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
