Position Summary

The Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs will oversee the management of litigation and conflict resolution strategies within the organization. This role involves assessing legal risks and collaborating with various departments to ensure effective legal support for our internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation Management: Directing and managing all litigation and arbitration matters, both domestically and internationally.
  • Risk Assessment: Conducting thorough evaluations of potential legal risks and providing strategic advice to business units regarding litigation costs, success probabilities, and alternative dispute resolution options.
  • Client Guidance: Offering legal counsel to business partners on various disputes and litigation-related issues.
  • Budget Development: Creating and managing budgets for legal cases and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Collaboration with External Counsel: Managing relationships with outside legal counsel, vendors, and experts to support litigation efforts.
  • Pre-Litigation Strategy: Engaging in early case assessments and facilitating resolutions before formal litigation when feasible.

Managed Litigation Oversight:

  • Supervising litigation matters related to managed and franchised properties, including advising on pre-litigation strategies.
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders to gather and review relevant documentation.
  • Conducting risk analyses to evaluate potential liabilities associated with litigation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a reputable law school with a strong academic background.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate legal environment or law firm, focusing on complex commercial litigation.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the capacity to distill complex legal concepts into actionable guidance.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Flexibility to travel as necessary for court appearances and other legal proceedings.
