Position Overview
Education Through Music, Inc. (ETM) is a charitable organization dedicated to reintegrating music education into the curricula of public schools in New York City. We are seeking a full-time Music Education Coordinator.
The Music Education Coordinator will oversee a group of music educators in PreK-12 partner institutions throughout New York City, ensuring exceptional instructional quality, curriculum development, and professional conduct that aligns with ETM's standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular on-site evaluations to assess the classroom environment and instructional methods of music educators.
- Develop a tailored professional growth plan aimed at enhancing the skills of music educators, while leveraging their existing strengths.
- Provide constructive feedback to music educators and track their development.
- Implement ETM's progressive disciplinary measures to uphold employee accountability.
- Support and mentor music educators in creating engaging musical activities, lesson plans, curricula, and assessment techniques, while facilitating performances that adhere to ETM's benchmarks.
- Guide music educators in effective classroom management strategies and ensure their successful application.
- Assist in managing school partnerships, fostering relationships with school leadership, and coordinating school-wide events.
- Help organize, plan, and execute in-school and public performances that meet ETM's quality criteria.
- Ensure that all ETM music rooms are well-maintained, organized, and equipped with comprehensive partner packages.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of ETM's professional development resources and training sessions for educators.
- Act as a Google Classroom author and manager.

Salary Range:
$67,500 - $77,500 annually.
Note: Employment is contingent upon obtaining security clearance from the relevant educational authorities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Frequent local travel to visit partner school locations within New York City.
- Bachelor's degree in music education.
- A minimum of six years of teaching experience in primary or secondary education.
- Proficiency in choir, string orchestra, or band (concert or modern).
- Strong vocal and instrumental performance skills.
- Knowledge of music theory and notation.
- Understanding of music pedagogy, educational theory, and child development.
- Familiarity with various musical genres and repertoires.
- Experience in curriculum design and pedagogical methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to provide feedback and manage employee performance.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, including Google Classroom.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience (not involving students).
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Seven years of teaching experience in primary or secondary education, preferably within New York City.
- New York State Teaching Certification.
- Experience or degree in educational leadership.
- Experience in staff or project management.
- K-12 teaching experience.
- Proficiency in music technology tools.
- Familiarity with the Danielson Framework for teaching.
- Experience in both general music and instrumental ensemble settings.
- Advanced performance skills in vocal or instrumental music, particularly with string instruments and piano.
- Experience in conducting choral or instrumental groups.
- In-depth understanding of music pedagogy and child development.
- Additional certifications in music teaching methodologies.
