About the Position

Education Through Music is seeking a dedicated and passionate Music Educator to join our team. As a Music Educator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing music programs in New York City Public Schools, working closely with program staff to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement music programs for students in grades K-12
  • Collaborate with program staff to create curriculum and lesson plans
  • Lead school-wide concerts and events, promoting music education and community engagement
  • Attend and participate in school-wide functions, assemblies, and after-school activities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, and parents
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in music education and pedagogy
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience teaching music to groups of up to 30 students
  • Ability to model quality singing and musical performance
  • Sound musical knowledge and understanding of musical pedagogy practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Music Education or a related field
  • Certification to teach in the state of New York or any other state
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching music in New York City Public Schools
  • Experience with music technology software, such as Soundtrap
