About the Position

Education Through Music is seeking a dedicated and passionate Music Educator to join our team. As a Music Educator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing music programs in New York City Public Schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement music programs for students in New York City Public Schools
  • Collaborate with program staff to coordinate and develop in-school music programs
  • Produce two school-wide concerts per year
  • Attend and assist in school-wide functions, such as assemblies and graduation
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans and sequences
  • Reflect, implement, and improve upon existing processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience teaching groups of up to 30 children
  • Ability to model quality singing in front of children
  • Sound musical knowledge
  • Knowledge of musical pedagogy practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's in Music Education or a related field
  • Certified to teach in the state of New York or any other state
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching in New York City Public Schools
  • Singing, conducting, keyboard, guitar, and presentation skills are all pluses
  • Prior experience in teaching Band, Orchestra, Modern Band, and Choir
  • Comfortability with Music Technology Software such as Soundtrap
