Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a fun, engaging, and inclusive classroom culture, differentiating instruction to meet learners' needs, and developing and implementing curriculum and assessments for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to support students with diverse needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement an effective integrated co-teaching model to serve all students in an inclusive classroom
  • Drive academic outcomes for all students by analyzing data, differentiating instruction, and supporting each learner's unique needs
  • Inspire students and fellow staff to perform at their highest potential
  • Develop and maintain strong and professional relationships with WHIN families
Qualifications
  • NYS or equivalent Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Urban elementary teaching experience
  • Experience teaching 5th-8th grade
  • Demonstrated success raising achievement levels of all students
  • An unwavering belief that all students can achieve at a high level
  • Proven commitment and success working with students and families
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas: bilingual (Spanish), music performance, teaching experience and/or certifications, project-based learning, and responsive classroom models
