We are seeking a highly skilled Music Teacher to join our team as a Program Coordinator for the Salute To Music Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading efficient and effective weekly rehearsals of the program's ensembles, working collaboratively with teacher colleagues and program manager to plan and coordinate program activities, and preparing students for scheduled concerts.
Key Responsibilities- Lead weekly rehearsals of the Salute To Music Program ensembles
- Work collaboratively with teacher colleagues and program manager to plan and coordinate program activities
- Prepare students for scheduled concerts
- Recruit students to audition and enroll in the Salute To Music Program
- Select repertoire for concert programs in collaboration with fellow Salute To Music faculty
- Take an active role in all aspects of student supervision
- Implement and assist with all aspects of rehearsals/coachings as well as concert participation
- New York City Department of Education licensed and appointed teacher of music
- Extensive knowledge of middle- and high school-level ensemble, solo, and chamber repertoire
- Effective or Highly Effective ratings in Advance for the past three years while teaching in NYCDOE music programs
- History of demonstrated excellence in preparing students for high-quality musical performances
- Strong vocal/instrumental performance and conducting skills
- Ability to critically assess musical, organizational, and interpersonal challenges and identify and implement effective solutions
- Ability to work collaboratively with teacher colleagues and program manager
- Demonstrated evidence of strong leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to be well organized and follow detailed instructions and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Willingness to teach weekly on Saturday mornings and to participate with Salute To Music ensembles in performances at NYC venues
- Documented record of excellent attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional, clear, timely, and transparent manner
- Proficiency using digital audio workstations (DAWs), cloud-based computer applications, and music-specific software
- Demonstrated evidence of professional-level piano skills, including music sight-reading
- Demonstrated ability to accompany varied musical styles authentically and fluidly
- Satisfactory piano audition performance
Up to 130 hours per position, with a work schedule that includes Saturday mornings and other weekday and weekend hours as needed.
SalaryPer Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title.
