Job Overview

The Baggage Runner is responsible for the swift and secure movement of passenger luggage throughout the airport. This role includes transporting baggage between terminals, to and from aircraft, and ensuring the accurate loading and unloading of luggage onto conveyor systems. Adherence to safety and security protocols is crucial, along with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines. Additionally, you may assist in organizing and sorting luggage in the baggage claim area and addressing passenger inquiries regarding their baggage.

WHAT TO EXPECT AS A BAGGAGE RUNNER
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team towards shared objectives
  • Transport luggage promptly and securely across various airport locations
  • Handle passenger belongings with care to prevent damage
  • Assist in loading and unloading baggage from aircraft
  • Efficiently operate baggage trolleys and other transport equipment
  • Verify baggage tags to ensure proper routing to flights
  • Help sort and organize luggage in the baggage claim area
  • Respond swiftly to passenger inquiries related to baggage
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills
  • Build lasting relationships with customers
  • Physical requirements may include:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds or more
  • Ability to hear and respond to spoken instructions and audible alarms in the terminal environment
  • Visual requirements include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe areas while focusing on a specific point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision), and the ability to adjust focus
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, including documents
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and tablets
  • Must pass a drug screening
  • Eligibility to obtain necessary credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal, as applicable)
